Privacy Policy

Effective 6 August 2026 · 1001649051 Ontario Inc. o/a Steel City CFO, 57 Chatham Street, Hamilton, Ontario L8P 2B3, Canada

This policy explains what personal information Steel City CFO collects, why we collect it, where it is stored, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers this website, our email list, our advisory and consulting engagements, and the Steel City CFO Academy programs. A separate policy applies to the Jane Clinic Sync tool.

What we collect

Why we use it

To deliver the services and programs you have purchased, to administer the relationship including invoicing and support, to meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations, and to communicate with you about programs and services. We rely on your consent, or on our existing business relationship with you, as required by PIPEDA and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

Email

If you join our list you will receive occasional emails about our programs and services. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and our mailing address, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly. We do not sell, rent or share our list.

Service providers and cross-border processing

We use third-party software to run the business and deliver programs, including Zoom for live sessions, Kit for email, Gumroad for checkout, Google Drive for materials, and Netlify for this website. Some of these providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States.

This means personal information may be stored and processed outside Canada, and while it is there it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement agencies and national security authorities of those jurisdictions. We hold our providers to comparable protections by contract, but we cannot exempt information from the laws of the country it sits in. If this is a concern for your engagement, tell us and we will discuss what can be kept in Canada.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use your confidential information, your session contributions or your deliverables to train or fine-tune any machine learning model or artificial intelligence system, and we do not knowingly permit our providers to do so, without your written consent. We may use anonymized and aggregated information about how programs run, from which you and your clients cannot reasonably be identified, to improve them.

Disclosure

We disclose personal information only to the service providers described above, to professional advisers under a duty of confidence, where you have asked us to, or where we are required to by law.

Storage, security and retention

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers, and access is limited to Steel City CFO personnel under multi-factor authentication. We keep engagement records for as long as the engagement requires and then for the period our professional, tax and limitation-period obligations require, after which they are deleted.

Your choices

You can ask us to give you access to the personal information we hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, withdraw a consent, unsubscribe from email, or delete information we are not required to keep. Write to kevin@steelcitycfo.com and we will respond within thirty days.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, please raise it with us first at kevin@steelcitycfo.com. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Applicable law and changes

We operate under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable Ontario law. If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and where the change is material we will tell subscribers by email.
