Remote fractional CFO support across Canada and the United States
Fractional CFO services

Someone has to own the financial side of the business.

I run the finance function for owner-managed businesses with $1M to $25M in revenue. That includes managing the bookkeeper and outside firms, building the forward view, and helping the owner make the financial calls.

What the role includes

More than better reporting.

A useful fractional CFO does not stop at producing a forecast or attending a meeting. The role is to make sure financial work is assigned, reviewed, understood, and used.

Run the finance function

Set the close and reporting calendar, direct the bookkeeper or controller, manage the accountant and outside advisers, and make sure issues reach the right person.

Own the forward view

Maintain a practical cash forecast, operating forecast, and management view that change when the business changes.

Support the decisions

Work through hiring, pricing, financing, expansion, acquisitions, owner distributions, and other decisions where the downside matters.

Make reporting useful

Turn the monthly close into a short management package that explains what changed, what requires attention, and who owns the follow-up.

Industries

Different businesses need different financial questions.

The underlying role stays consistent, but the operating economics do not. These pages show how the work changes by industry.

Construction and trades

Cash timing, backlog, WIP, job margins, equipment, bonding, and lender reporting.

Construction CFO work

Manufacturing

Inventory, throughput, gross margin, working capital, capital spending, and plant economics.

Manufacturing CFO work

Software and SaaS

Runway, recurring revenue, gross margin, hiring pace, investor reporting, and the path to cash efficiency.

Software CFO work

Professional services

Utilization, pricing, delivery capacity, partner economics, receivables, and hiring ahead of demand.

How the work starts

Start with the business, not a standard package.

The first job is to understand how the company makes money, which decisions are ahead, what information the owner receives today, and who is responsible for each part of the finance work.

First

Review the statements, cash cycle, close, reporting process, finance team, and major decisions expected over the next 6 to 12 months.

Then

Fix the information that cannot be trusted and build only the forecast, analysis, and reporting the owner will use.

Ongoing

Meet on a useful cadence, make decisions, assign actions, coordinate the finance work, and update the outlook as facts change.

Where I work

Remote across Canada and the United States.

I am based in Hamilton, Ontario. Most of the work runs remotely. Existing local pages remain available for owners looking for support closer to home.

A useful first conversation

If the finance work is getting done but nobody is running it, that is the gap to discuss.

Send me the decision, reporting problem, or finance-team issue that is taking too much of the owner's time.
